We use exotic carbon fiber composite to build our sunroof panels because carbon fiber offers several advantages over other materials. First of all carbon fiber laminates are relatively light weight and stiff. This is why carbon composites are used so extensively in aerospace. Carbon composites posses excellent dimensional stability due to their low CTE (coefficient of thermal expansion). Having a low CTE is an incredible benefit in this application because the panel will not shrink or expand with heat and cold. This means the panel maintains it's watertight silicon seal always!
